After over a decade of pretty much being exclusively a Linux user, work is forcing me to use OSX, and I have discovered my sound card has much better support under OSX. So I am trying to use this OSX machine with csound. How do I use multiple USB MIDI devices in one csound process under OSX? Is this even possible? Two out of the three devices I plan to use do not have MIDI input or output ports on them, so chaining them physically is out of the question. As a fallback I will consider running one extra csound instance per hardware device, and have them all send OSC to the csound instance that is generating audio, but that seems a little silly. |

Hello, Open Application/Utilities/Audio Midi Setup and in Window select 'Show Midi..." then you can create a new software device and combine different devices into one. I think that should work. Sadly, I am using a SoftStep, and one of the two "devices" created when it plugs in is unusable and prone to sending garbage (used for configuration and communication with the GUI SoftStep editor). On Wed, Aug 22, 2012 at 8:22 AM, joachim heintz |

I wasn't aware of this option. I used
Midi Patchbay (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/7243/midi-patchbay
) to mix all the midi signals into one single device.
