Only time will tell if this really works. 

But if it does work well, then it is a really big deal.

My understanding of the technical issues is fairly superficial, but insofar as my understanding does extend, this is a really hard problem, and I would be a bit surprised if it worked well enough to, say, reliably transcribe performances by wind quintet into notation.
