I would be very interested in this as well. I have the catalog that was released with the csound book. Are there any plans for updates? Does the catalog rely on user submissions? ---- Brent Boylan |

I asked a similar question on the csounds.com forum but did not (as far as I'm aware) receive an answer. My question was: If I've bought The Csound Book, is there any reason to also buy The Csound Catalog? Is there content in the catalog CD's that's missing from the Csound Book CDs? -- JK apalomba@austin.rr.com wrote: > I would be very interested in this as well. Hello JK and Brent, Hopefully, if I am not drowned by my full-time teaching load at Berklee this summer (7 unique courses per week), a solo concert and 2 lectures in Athens (on the SYNCH festival - on June 14, and 15)), and the final editing/delivery of the new *Audio Programming Book* that I am editing for MIT Press, I will have the new DVD version of the CsoundCatalog5 done and available by the end of the summer or the beginning of the fall semester. (There will be a low upgrade price for those who already own the Csound Catalog ($9.99 - mainly to cover handling, shipping and materials cost), and a new slightly higher donation/price for first time buyers of ($34.99). Yes, there is a big difference between the small subset of what is offered on the CDROM from The Csound Book and The Csound Catalog. So... it would be worth getting it now and being on the lookout for the September upgrade. And yes, I am always collecting and adding user submissions to the catalog - after this DVD release, submissions and future upgrades of The Csound Instrument Catalog will be hosted at cSounds.com and will be free to download from there. -Dr. B. Count me in! I'll upgrade as soon as it's available. Just curious, what kind of submissions are you looking for, how/where do we submit them, and when's the deadline? -- Darren Nelsen composer/sound artist http://www.curiomusic.com On May 27, 2008, at 1:25 PM, Dr. Richard Boulanger wrote: > Hello JK and Brent, > > Hopefully, if I am not drowned by my full-time teaching load at > Berklee this summer (7 unique courses per week), a solo concert and > 2 lectures in Athens (on the SYNCH festival - on June 14, and 15)), > and the final editing/delivery of the new *Audio Programming Book* > that I am editing for MIT Press, I will have the new DVD version of > the CsoundCatalog5 done and available by the end of the summer or > the beginning of the fall semester. Hello Darren, Really like your site and your music. Just running your .csd files a few minutes ago. I am always listening to and collecting .csd files of compositions and instruments of all types to include in the catalog. If you have a collection of things (or pieces) that you would allow me to include. I would love to have them and add them and make them available to the community on the next version of the catalog. I will be pushing on this over the summer. There is no deadline, but... I'd like to finish by Sept 1. -dB On May 28, 2008, at 2:32 AM, Darren Nelsen wrote: > Count me in! Thank you. I'd be honored to be a part of it! Will send you my latest .csds within the coming weeks. Thanks for all you've done for Csound and the community, btw. Subject | [Csnd] Csound Catalog Update |
Hello Dr. B. i thought i bring up this subject again since it's been a while. How is the progress on the updated Csound Catalog doing? I also would like to mention that i've always had trouble running the "old" catalog cd (i'm using Linux) because there is a problem with the uppercase letters and lowercase letters. The links were not working correctly and i could not use the catalog as is. I have to mount the CD with an extra option, that is "check=relaxed". This option stops making a difference when the CD is looking for uppercase and lowercase letters. Could this be corrected in the next version of the catalog please? greetings Menno Knevel Dr. Richard Boulanger-3 wrote: > > Hello JK and Brent, > I will have the new DVD version of the > CsoundCatalog5 done and available by the end of the summer or the > beginning of the fall semester.
