Dear Csounders, Here is a link to the “original" Csound Book CDs https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7117684/2000_First_Printing_HTML%2BDATA_CD_Masters.zip and…. Here is a link to the “revised” Csound Book DVD (in which everything is converted to PDF and .csd formats!) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7117684/2011_Second_Printing_NEW_DVD_Master.zip it’s time to do another revision… hopefully this spring. Wishing you all the best in 2014 and happy that you are using the Csound Book. I hope that you will be pleased to discover some chapters on the revised DVD chapter that you had not “found” on the originals. Dr.B. In Windows 7, the DVD .zip file can't be opened. It's 2+ GB on disk, as expected, but Windows thinks it's an empty file. -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/Re-The-Csound-Book-CD-ROMs-tp5731378p5731389.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

I downloaded the DVD .zip again. This time, Windows started unzipping it, but in the middle of the process my Avast anti-virus thought it detected a threat, a file called timpp2113q.exe. Avast aborted the unzipping process. My search engine turns up no information whatever about this file. Perhaps someone who can unzip the folder could search for it and see if it's actually in there somewhere. Avast may be wrong ... or not. -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/Re-The-Csound-Book-CD-ROMs-tp5731378p5731396.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

I downloaded and unzipped both archives successfully on my Windows 7 machine, however, I needed to take a few extra steps to get it all to work. For the original 2000 .zip file, I first unzipped to the root of my data drive (D:\ drive in Windows terminology). There were then two additional zip files, one for the .HTML, one for the data. Because of very long path lengths, I could only get these two archives to unzip without error by copying them, in turn, to the root drive. They then both unzipped successfully. The 2011 file also unzipped at the root directory. There were a few errors regarding corrupt PDF files but otherwise seemed to work fine. EdwardEdward Childs

There's an email address on the MIT page you can contact and they'll sort you out. That's what I did. Failing that with Dr. B's permission I can share the image files with you. Cheers
Dominic

Hi Dr. B! thanks! i've found that i've already downloaded several months ago when you posted the links on the list. When unpacking the files on Windows i have several errors because some file path is too long ( windows os can't support more than 260 characters file path ). Would be great to have shorter paths to access all the files! Many thanks and all the best a. -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/Re-The-Csound-Book-CD-ROMs-tp5731378p5736261.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Excellent Alfonso. I will make a new update in the next few months and make shorter filenames as you suggest. Dr.B.
