I just finished video documentation for this installation piece so I thought I should share it also:

Beautiful. You build the friendliest musical machines. They cry out to
be played with, it's remarkable. I think you need to house a full-time
expo somewhere. I'm so impressed that I'm going to forego several puns
that are screaming out to be made here!

yes, you should!! - thanks!
i read the description. if it's not too difficult to explain: how do you
work with the speed of the propellers? are you able to get the time for
one single sensor (the time it is covered by the propeller), or is it
about the time of one rotation (or the time span between two consecutive
sensors)?

I am measuring the time a sensor is covered to provide a very rough indication of speed (this time will also depend on propeller blade width). The triggered sound therefore only begins when the sensor emerges from beneath a propeller blade. I also count the number of triggerings of each individual sensor across a longer time period (20 sec. I think) for another control input. I could also, as you suggest, measure the speed of one rotation but then in order to get an accurate value the sensor would need to know which propeller it was under as they can have two, three or four blades. I like to keep these things simple, so immediate improvements would probably be to use better quality sounds or to do a bit more sanding.
I.

Excellent, thanks for sharing. A technical question: Are you using LDR’s and Arduino? I once had an idea of getting a photo installation, where the photos are hung with strings from the ceiling, and visitors can make them move and that creates sounds, something like the propellers. But that was just an idea, never realised.

very clever, thanks.
i am wondering which application you use for all these processes, but i
don't expect an answer.

Just LDRs and I used a doepfer usb64 to save time. Photo diodes could also be used but I think LDRs are more useful if the lighting conditions are unknown.

Wonderful!

Just today I went to see an exhibition of sound installations, mostly done by visual artists and I was a bit dissappointed, how they went more for an idea and cared much less of the sound (or maybe it was how the exhibition was set up).

I think there was none that was so clear and simple in it general idea but so rich and open from the sound side. Also I think it is very important, that people can be part of the music and inflenicng it.

tahnk you!
