[Csnd] FFTools v3 for mavericks

Subject[Csnd] FFTools v3 for mavericks
Dear all,

A beta version of FFTools 3 is now available for download. It runs on Mavericks and with the very latest version of csound (no earlier than 6.02.0). It is beta so likely there are some bugs. I would appreciate any feedback. There is a chance that this won't run on an earlier os than 10.9.1. I have no way of testing this at the moment.

Circumspect and Partikkel are still missing but there is an additional graphical equaliser in there and as you will see an interface redesign, as well as numerous bug fixes.

I will write the documentation and post it soon but for now feel free to try this out and give me any feedback. The main difference is that you now have to open a soundfile 'player' and a transformation module at the same time.

Best,
Peiman

BTW, this will all be in the readme file of the official release, but I'm really grateful to Alexis Baskind for his input. Particularly the EQ GUI is largely his doing.

works fine with few sound files I tested. Got a bit confused: On the output panel it says Open, clicking gives save as? Should the button be Save?

It’s not that cold here, computers and printers and other gadgets warm the rest, what the electrical heaters leave cold. But the polar vortex, that caused snow catastrophes in the US is now here causing -17 degrees centigrade  freezing cold!

Thanks. Yes I guess save makes more sense. It's more like "open a file to record to". So perhaps it makes more sense to say "create file" or something like that?

polar vortex? sounds very scary.

That's great! My spidey senses are tingling. I see lot of ways that
this could be done in Cabbage, but I'm not sure the table widgets are
up to that kind of complexity when drawing spectra, but it would be a
good test case! Being able to use this in any VST host would be really
great.

Thanks Rory,

Yes it would be really great to have these working with Cabbage. It's my dream!

I'm not so bothered about the spectrogram as I don't find it all that useful anyway (much better to judge by ear!). Once cabbage is happy on OS X I'd be keen to try making the EQ with the table editor so to test out the idea.

Also, there are some modules missing, which I haven't updated yet. Hopefully in a couple of weeks it will all be there, then I can focus on adding the new modules that I've planned.

Hello,

Yes I'll upload it to my website today and post a new link.

Also, there are some modules missing, which I haven't updated yet. Hopefully in a couple of weeks it will all be there, then I can focus on adding the new modules that I've planned.

Thanks Rory,

Yes it would be really great to have these working with Cabbage. It's my dream!

I'm not so bothered about the spectrogram as I don't find it all that useful anyway (much better to judge by ear!). Once cabbage is happy on OS X I'd be keen to try making the EQ with the table editor so to test out the idea.

great.

a table editor MaxMSP style in Cabbage would be great! with mouse adding/removing points, with mouse curvature editing with segments, with x,y coordinates viewer for selected point, curvature factor viewer for selected segment, multiple point selection to move points and a way to move point(s) while keeping fixed x or y position(s). wow! :-)

Cool Rory! just go ahead in the next months/years. Cabbage is growing really well. At this time is the more promising way of integrating Csound in a production/live performance enviroment wich is not only Csound based.
thanks for your great work, and for whole community work bringing Csound to the future.

I think the cabbage table editor is really cool.

And from what I understand cabbage now offers multichannel audio too so really the only thing I'm waiting for is a stable version for os x.

cheers,
