Subject[Csnd] csoundqt 0.7.1
hi andrés -

here is a list of bugs i experienced today in trying 0.7.1 on osx 10.6
(some has already been reported by peiman):

1. it is not possible to drag the window and make it smaller.
2. creating a new widget in an empty widget panel shows nothing.
3. the scripts directory is not the latest one.

this (3) makes me think whether you did not use the latest sources for
the built?

1) and 3) is ok for me on linux from latest sources. 2) is a bug also here.

best -

unfortunately, it has become worse now with the widget issue:
- i open a new file with an empty widget panel.
- i create a widget. nothing is shown.
- i close and re-open the file. now the widget is there. BUT:
- when i go to the edit mode and click on the widget to drag it, it
disappears again.

this is latest git, on ubuntu studio 12.04.

i have to go back to 0.7.0 now ...

Hi Joachim,

New 0.7.2 version posted. Everyhting seems to be OK here. Please test.

You can drag the window to make it smaller if you unselect text for
toolbar icons. That will force non-natice mac look which allows
resizing.

Cheers,
Andrés

SubjectRe: [Csnd] csoundqt 0.7.1
That looks like a JackOSX install problem. Try fixing it by installing the latest JackOSX. Not sure why coreaudio does not like it and portaudio does.

SubjectRe: [Csnd] csoundqt 0.7.1
looks like something is really bad on my system with jack. i installed
jackosx 0.89, but after this, funny enough, coreaudio cannot find the
jack server at all ...

well, if portaudio works for me, it is all fine. but why does coreaudio
at all look for jack?!?

SubjectRe: [Csnd] csoundqt 0.7.1
yes, it's some mess on my computer. i will try to find out and fix. but
the good news: this has nothing to do with csoundqt 0.7.2.

but again, please: what business has coreaudio with jack when csound
uses it (coreaudio) as real-time audio modul?

                             hi andrés -

here is a list of bugs i experienced today
        in trying
                             0.7.1 on osx 10.6
(some has already been reported by peiman):

                             1. it is not possible to drag the window
        and make it
                             smaller.
                             2. creating a new widget in an empty widget
        panel
                             shows nothing.
                             3. the scripts directory is not the latest one.

this (3) makes me think whether you did not
        use the
                             latest sources for
                             the built?

                             1) and 3) is ok for me on linux from latest
        sources.
                             2) is a bug also
                             here.

                             best -

                                    joachim

                                 in trying
                                                      0.7.1 on osx 10.6
                                                      (some has already
                        been reported by peiman):

                                                      1. it is not
                        possible to drag the window
                                 and make it
                                                      smaller.
                                                      2. creating a new
                        widget in an empty widget
                                 panel
                                                      shows nothing.
                                                      3. the scripts
directory is not the latest one.

                                                      this (3) makes me
                        think whether you did not
                                 use the
                                                      latest sources for
                                                      the built?

                                                      1) and 3) is ok
for me on linux from latest
                                 sources.
                                                      2) is a bug also

I think on osx Jack has to be first launched before it can be used. But why is Csound trying to use Jack I don't know. Unless of course you're asking it to?

                                                      (some has already
                        been reported by peiman):

                                                      1. it is not
                        possible to drag the window
                                 and make it
                                                      smaller.
                                                      2. creating a new
                        widget in an empty widget
                                 panel
                                                      shows nothing.
                                                      3. the scripts
directory is not the latest one.

                                                      this (3) makes me
                        think whether you did not
                                 use the
                                                      latest sources for
                                                      the built?

Is midi controller input working? I just tried it in the class but I can't get the sliders to respond to my midi controller. I have selected the kontroler in preferences and set the right ctrl value. It works in pd. Any suggestions?

"works for me" on osx 10.6, both with the usual midi (via portmidi) and
the internal midi interface which lets you assign a midi controller
directly to a widget.

I just don't think it should be so complicated. It works on both maxmsp and pd without any faf, on exactly the same machine and with the same set up.

Thanks,

OK you're absolutely right. It doesn't work reliably. It loses connection when I restart CsoundQT. I'm working on a project for kids and really want csoundQT to work with my usb midi controllers.

I think I know what the bug is. The fader midi controller value has to be reset each time. So it looks like csoundQT is not remembering some of the widget attributes.

Just to clarify. The numbers are displayed correctly in the inspector but I have to reenter them to get the midi fader recognised.
