Brian,

I've had that book "Who was Fourier" for a year or two now,
it's rather useful and nicely laid out and organized. Written
for the student, rather than by a Phd trying to impress other 
Phd's. Good book. 

Another book that is good in the same way is "Complex Numbers"
by Verity Carr. It too is geared for the student. Not availble
at your local Barnes & Noble or Borders, have to go to the UK or
online through Amazon and the like. She' a math teacher in the UK,
so the book comes from there. Got that one about the same time as
the "Who was Fourier" book. They compliment one another rather well.

Another good one, a bit more complicated is "Fundamentals of Digital
Signal Processing" by Lonnie C. Ludeman. I've had this one for a 
number years now, it's pretty good and I'm always learning something
new everytime I pick it up. It's organized well and is progressively
more involved as it works up to a level of working knowledge.

I've been working on learning how to use it, in parallel to studying
DSP theory in general. There's a book called "Who was Fourier" from
MIT press that I've been using in conjunction to the study to learn
more about the math behind the dsp as well.

I never took Calculus in college, so I'm having to go back and
re-learn my math. The good thing is that its easy enough to do a lot
of cool work with the existing csound opcodes without knowing a ton of
complex math. But the more math I learn, the more interesting things I
can do.
