I have a student with this soundcard, and he has just installed Ubuntu onto a Windows machine. After a minor hassle he has ALSA built for this card, but it wants him to d/load some firmware, and he is concerned that the card may cease to work in Windows. Does anyone know about this, or have experience? ==John ffitch Send bugs reports to this list. To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body "unsubscribe csound" |

I've no idea but I understand his concerns. Perhaps they might know on the Linux Audio mailing list. Rory. 2009/11/6 jpff |

I was under the impression that windows had to upload firmware every time too. I don't think it's like flashing your BIOS. It's just part of initializing the device. I have a USB Tascam interface that works in Linux and Windows. jpff wrote: I have a student with this soundcard, and he has just installed Ubuntu onto a Windows machine. While I have no experience with the specific soundcard, normally the firmware is loaded on boot by the driver, which means you can't ruin the windows experience by toying in linux.
