Subject[Csnd] Re configure default widgets in QuteCsound?
Hey Csounders,

Forgive me if this information is available somewhere else and in my search
I happened to skip over it, but is it possible to go into some sort of
preference panel and change what widgets are generated in a new .csd
document in QuteCsound? Due to bug issues I have with the graph module, I
tend to first edit my widgets and delete everything besides the scope before
I do anything else to the document.

Thanks,

Nick Suda

You can create a default csd with default widgets and then use this as
a template for future files afaik. You just select the file you wish
to use a default in preferences, under default file.

Rory.

That makes sense, but I cannot find such an option to change the default csd
file when you start up QuteCsound in the Preferences pane. I opened the
Package Contents in my Applications folder to see if there was an internal
"default.csd" file that I could replace, but I couldn't find it. Maybe it's
in the Library or something?

Also, I refer not just to the configuration that opens when you start
QuteCsound anew, but also to the set of Widgets that opens up with any
Csound file (.orc, .sco, or .csd) when you open it in QuteCsound, for
example .orc files opening up with just a single, unused fader Widget paired
with it. Unless the author of the file(s) has designated a specific set of
Widgets that are to open with that file, I'd like some way to set that it
does not by default give me the frequency sweep button and the output
console and the graph and all of that.

Especially since the way I have the different windows configured in my
setup, the Widgets panel is far too small to display all of that stuff at
once. :)

Hi,

I've attached a screenshot of the configuration dialog where you see
the default csd configuration option.

You can't find the file inside the bundle because those resource files
are bundled inside the executable itself, so there is no easy way to
modify them there.

This is completely different, as no file is used for setting up
widgets when a file doesn't have any. If the files are orc sco pairs,
the widgets will do nothing and they will not be saved. If you open a
csd which has no widgets in QuteCsound, it will create a small widget
panel with a few widgets, and that will be saved unless you set "Don
save widgets in csd file" in the configuration.

Can you explain a bit more?

Well, it sounds like my other issues are just my own little neurotic
idiosyncrasies that I could change by reformatting the way I open the
program. Default .csd has been adjusted now though, perfect, thank you
Andres!
