Thank you, Michael, I have great instruments to work with. Jean-Pierre
has created a fantastic orchestra in AVSynthesis, all with Csound, of
course.

You are very welcome Dave.

AVSynthesis looks like an interesting app. If I understand it from a
brief glance it appears to be ideally suited for atmospheric/ambient
styles. Would that be your assessment as well? I have been inspired to
work on a few projects in that style and so your perspective would be
appreciated before diving in and learning a new system.

All the best,

Michael

It can be used for various styles of music, but yes, it's a good fit for
atmo/ambient stuff. Let me know if you get into AVSynthesis and need any
assistance. It's deep software, takes a while to learn. I was cleaning
an old drive last night and noticed that I have AVSynthesis files dating
back four years ago. I'm still learning new ways to use it.

Btw, here's the broad instrumentation for Hadal :

1. Mostly analog-style synthesis, with waveguide and Moog filters.
2. Sample playback with processing from waveguide and spectral drone
filters.
3. Primarily matrix modulation synthesis with waveguide and Moog filters.

Parts 1 and 3 use 12-tone rows as source pitch sequences. Part 2 was
originally a brief flute solo from a piece I wrote long ago for a bunch
of MIDI synths. I excised the solo from a recording, time-stretched it
with RubberBand, and processed it in AVSynthesis.

Best,
