Is it possible to read and write .txt files with fini/fouti using csound-iOS?

would readfi and fprints be better for this purpose?

Maybe. I'm just reading/writing presets as lines of floats from an array.

Just adding the .txt file to my project doesn't seem to be enough for fiopen to be able to find it. I'm getting EXC_BAD_ACCESS in flockfile. I think that means it can't be found.

The only similar example I've seen in Examples.xcodeproj is passing a sound file string through a score event. Maybe I need to figure a way to use fables instead.?

Hi Jason,

Are you giving a specific path in which to write the file, or just a
filename? I'm wondering if we should have a variable automatically
set by CsoundObj, something which could then be read by CSD's.
Something like:

Sdir chnget "ios.file.dir"

That could be set to the file directory where users can transfer files
to/from iOS through iTunes.  Thoughts?

I think it might be useful having some internal variables passed to csound as channels, but I think its important to make sure we namespace them to avoid conflicts, and for clarity. Some ideas:

- Adding '__' before and after the name
- Adding "::NAMESPACE::variable"
- Allowing nested namespaces: "ios.file.dir"

These restrictions would have to be enforced on channel creation. (Maybe restrictions only necessary for registered namespaces? After a registration mechanism is made?)

Cheers,
Andrés
