[Csnd] fundamentals?

Subject[Csnd] fundamentals?
I feel like this is the wrong place for this so forgive me if it is. Are there any books (or articles) out there to help me learn the basics of synthesis? I don't want to go in a classroom I just want to teach myself. I already have the csound book but unfortunately not enough time to look through it all the way.

A really easy-to-read one that I started with is "Computer Sound Design" by Miranda.

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=I9Ak0TBdlV4C&printsec=frontcover&dq=miranda+computer+sound+design&source=bl&ots=5QsU536fZW&sig=4lKYqyVpzYmUGCyfBmyvO4e2j5I&hl=en&ei=dqa1TYnmM9SZhQf415HkDw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBwQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false

What you can do is to read about each type of synthesis in the book and then cross reference it with the csound book and start building your csound instruments based on each method.

I'm a big fan of the synth secrets articles at Sound On Sound:

If you're interested in learning synthesis basic with Csound, I'd
recommend the book "Virtual Sound"

I found that the DSP Primer bt Steiglitz was very good at explainung thing
slike filters -- but I am a mathematician by backgound. The other
references posted all seem good to me. I learnt originally from examples
distributed with csound in the 1990s. I still have these examples
