Coming up with a fitting tribute,.... that's going to be a tough
one for someone as unique as he is. There was a short piece about
him in Wired back in February, was pretty good, stuff about him I
never knew.

should we do a tribute/rememberance as a csound [or even electronic
music] community?

maybe something like picking a time for people to play/create some
electronic music in remembrance.

i did not meet him, but certainly benefitted from the work he did. if
anyone has any good ideas for memorials, please post ...

This is sad news. I hope Csound and other languages like it don't die as well.

But it was a wonderful life, he was blessed to be able to do music for

I gasped when I read this. What an upsetting loss; quite literally akin to a Henry Ford or a Wright Brothers or something of a similar sort.

I had the precious opportunity for a handshake, a signature and a very brief exchange of words with Max at the FAST Festival at MIT just a couple months ago. Now the moment is that much more cherished forever.

Others have already said it much more eloquently and potently than I could, but it is quite an amazing thing to have invented an entire field and then stayed with it for more than half a century, along the frontline of every major development right until the end.

Most are celebrated for either being the first or the greatest. Max was both. R.I.P.
