I think I've done that in the sco-file, entering the function of a pulse, then specifying the frequency or time period of the pulse wave.  It worked. Don't recall how much processing was required. Was only a few lines of opcode.

Couldn't you use a function table with only one sample in it and then read
it with an oscillator?
