Subject[Csnd] How to get blue working on my G5 and MBox
I am startin to get to know the blue interface. I have got the application running successfully on Macbook Pro with 10.5.7, CSound Lib 5.0.9 and Blue version 0.125.0. But I cannot seem to get it to run on my G5. On my Apple G5 and am running the same apps: 10.5.7, CSound Lib 5.09 and blue 0.125.0. I am trying to use my Digidesign MBox 2 Pro as my audio interface. When I use my built in audio I get the same error message

This is the error message I keep getting:

There was an error in running CSound.

Subject[Csnd] Fwd: How to get blue working on my G5 and MBox
I figured out that when I went to Program options and changed the audio out to dac and the audio in to dac it worked. But it is very glitchy. If I change the audio driver to PortAudio on my Apple G5 and then use the built in audio it works fine. Another thing I have noticed is that when I play the same csd file through the Apple G5 using the PortAudio and Built in Audio it seems to distort. But when I play the csd file on my Macbook it doesn't distort.

If anyone can help it will be much appreciated. I guess I'll stick to my Macbook for now with blue.

Hi Gary,

If you're running the CSD itself with Csound directly and it's
distorting, then I would imagine it being an issue with buffer size.
Are you using -b and -B flags? I don't have a Mac to test on, but
perhaps someone with a Mac may be able to help here. To use the MBox,
you may need to change what device is used. With PortAudio, you
should be able to set it by using a number like dac1, dac2, etc. With
CoreAudio, I'm not quite sure what the settings would be. Have you
tried the CoreAudio driver with Csound?

Hi Steve,

I have used the -b flags and still get problems with the audio when using CoreAudio. It may be due to the MBox drivers, as they do give problems every now and then.

The MBox and CoreAudio works fine with other applications such as MacCSound and when running CSound from the terminal. So not too sure what is different about the audio setup in blue. I have tried changing the buffer sizes and this does not correct it either.

Hello,

I've had problems with digidesign stuff before, that's why I sold my mbox for a presonus firebox.

Make sure that the buffer size given with -b an -B flags is the same as the one given in the digidesign driver software application (whatever it's called!).
