Subject[Csnd] nsliders.tk
Hi people,

I use Kubuntu10.04.
when i try out the example "checkbox.csd" from the manual i get this error:

TCL/Tk
Wish couldn't read file "nsliders.tk": no such file or directory

i have nsliders.tk in /usr/local/lib/csound/tcl
How can i make Csound clear where it can be found?

thank you,
menno

You must use this in connection with winsound as far as I know. Not
WinXound, but winsound which you may have to build yourself. I these
opcodes have more or less being replaced with the channel opcodes and
front ends like QuteCsound and MacCsound.

Rory.

Right. The same goes for the button opcode.
But....:)
the manual says: Requires Winsound or TCL/TK. This could mean that it should
work in Linux too, if there is tcl/tk present.
And....
the manual says: Note that this opcode is not available on Windows due to
the implimentation of pipes on that system
Isn't Winsound a(n old) Windows-only program? If so, it seems there is a
contradiction here.

Can you tell me more about this? I would like to make a correction in the
manual if needed.

I'd dearly love to but I don't know anything about it I'm afraid! My
earlier message was merely an assumption. It is kind of confusing,
I'll give you that..

It works in Linux -- I use in my classes. I have the file in the current
directory.

Winsound was originally for Windows but latest version runs cross-platform

thanks for your reactions.

i rebuild Csound including Winsound and indeed it works in Kubuntu.
When i run checkbox.csd with it i get the same remark:

TCL/Tk
Wish couldn't read file "nsliders.tk": no such file or directory

(i still have nsliders.tk in /usr/local/lib/csound/tcl)

Is there like PYTHONPATH a TCLPATH or something that has to be set?

Hello Mr. Menno,
i think You need to have the file (nsliders.tk) in Your working directory, i
do not know other way (and many things).
I tried and it was ok.

ciao,
francesco.
