Here's another improv using the "difference engine" instrument. This one uses considerably more effects processing (all live) and is, I think, more successful musically than the previous track (which was essentially an exercise in seeing what kind of sounds I could get with the new instrument by itself). This one was actually recorded first. http://soundcloud.com/mysterybear/exospheric-disturbances - Dave Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body "unsubscribe csound" |

I enjoyed listening to this Dave. You've designed a nice instrument there. I preferred the earlier version though - I felt the effects in the newer version submerged the characteristics of the instrument too much. Just an opinion... Keep it up. Thanks, Iain, that's a fair response. Not in defense, but in explanation: this one is actually a more accurate reflective of what I do in a live setting. In that context, I consider the "effects" (especially the delay and the ring mod) as first-class citizens, i.e., just as important as the the "instruments", and I tend to tweak them all rather equally in the course of playing.
