Subject[Csnd] bformdec1 and changing the image width
Hello,

I just did some surround recordings with the soundfiled microphone. I
am decoding it with bformdec1 and works fine. It would, however, be
nice if I could adjust the width of the image. How would one need to
change (amusingly gain) aw, ax, ay and az to change the width for the
front and back stereo pairs?

My understanding is that this format works as two crossed M/S setups
where Y stands for the conventional sides (fig-8) and X for the
crossed "side" (front-back fig 8). So presumably by lowering the level
of W (the omni that acts as a "mid") the image gets wider?

Thanks

Peiman

i know joe anderson has done a bunch of stuff like this.
here's a pdf "poster" that has some matrix transform
http://ambisonics.iem.at/symposium2009/proceedings/ambisym09-josephanderson-ambitk-poster.pdf/at_download/file
(his email is on there too, im sure he'd be happy to pass along more details on the math if you want)
