Hi, I have just installed CSound for my windows machine (Windows 7, 64 bit operating system) using the Csound5.19-gnu-win32-d.exe installer. While I can run csound programs from the terminal, it will not let me use csoundqt. When I try to run it, it tells me "The program can't start because python27.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem" I've reinstalled several times, and it doesn't seem to work. Furthermore, while csound can run from the terminal, whenever I do, it gives me the above message, and another message: "The program can't start because tcl85.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem" and then it proceeds to run the csound program correctly. Why are these messages appearing, and what can I do to fix the potential problems, and use csoundqt? Thanks! -Justin |

It seems some dlls are not being installed. When you installed Csound did you choose to install everything, or did you select only certain components? |

Try un-installing and then un-checking anything to do with tcl/tk and Python, that might do the trick? On 26 January 2013 20:20, Justin Satriano |

Okay, well now csound will run from the command line just fine with no error messages (yay!) however, csoundqt still gives me the same message about python.dll being missing. -Justin On Sat, Jan 26, 2013 at 3:36 PM, Rory Walsh <rorywalsh@ear.ie> wrote: Try un-installing and then un-checking anything to do with tcl/tk and |

In that case you may have to download and install python 2.7, hopefully that will do the trick! On 26 January 2013 20:50, Justin Satriano |

Nah, I downloaded python (I used python-2.7.amd64.exe from the website) and then restarted, but still same error message. -Justin On Sat, Jan 26, 2013 at 3:56 PM, Rory Walsh <rorywalsh@ear.ie> wrote: In that case you may have to download and install python 2.7, |

In that case there isn't much more I can suggest. But fear not, I'm sure someone will be able to help you sort it out! On 26 January 2013 21:19, Justin Satriano |

Actually, I made a mistake in the installer, which I will correct, and I'll let you know when I do correct it. What I did was put CsoundQt-py-d into the installer in place of the old CsoundQt-d, but this requires Python 2.7 to be installed. You can install Python 2.7 on your computer to get around this, or you can wait for an updated installer. You may also be able to run an old CsoundQt-d or the one from the CsoundQt Web site. I expect to have this fixed in the next few days. Regards, Mike On Sat, Jan 26, 2013 at 3:13 PM, Rory Walsh |

Sorry, I missed the earlier message about Python in fact being installed. I will have to investigate. Regards, Mike On Sat, Jan 26, 2013 at 5:03 PM, Michael Gogins |

Re-reading more carefully, you have installed Python for 64 bit architecture. Install Python 2.7 for 32 bit architecture and all should be well. Note that Csound 32 bit and 64 bit refer to sample word size, not to CPU architecture, but for Python 32 and 64 bit refer to CPU architecture. So far, Csound for Windows is only built for 32 bit CPU architecture. Hope this helps, Mike On Sat, Jan 26, 2013 at 5:04 PM, Michael Gogins |
