http://soundcloud.com/information/six-feet-of-chain-lee I was sitting in a restaurant waiting for my food and they were playing a Lee Hazelwood song so I decided to remix it while I was waiting. The basis for this track was produced using a real time "musique concrete" csound patch running on my Nokia N900. Finally the track was overdubbed in ardour with realtime granulations of the track using grain3 and a korg nanokontrol for parameter input. There is an intense amount of bass on the track, so listen with a good sub if you can. Nice piece, I like the resonation and the movement in the headphone space, Its too bad the n900 is going to be hard to get its really cool what you're able to do on a hand held portable. On Sun, Feb 20, 2011 at 10:31 AM, Justin Glenn Smith |

Hello Mr. Justin, really nice. i like it. Only a very minimal note: with hearphones i hear a little bit too noise (hi freq). But could depend by my system. (I wish to explain myself better). Thanks for sharing, (I only hope You was alone at restaurant!-) ciao, francesco. |

You system is probably fine. There are moments where the audio clips and breaks up (I presume this is what you mean by "bit too noise (hi freq)"). These were introduced intentionally - some of the other tracks had clipping, and that has become part of the aesthetic of the album I am working on. I see it as a neo-brechtian or hyper-wabi-sabi element, calling attention to the technologies being used by having moments of failure of those technologies. Actually one of my enduring interests musically is creating those moments in a recording meant for home listening where one is unsure whether the sound was meant to be that way or one's system is failing. Other than the accompanying granulation (which took a bit longer but was done in my home studio), the track took exactly as long to make as it does to listen to - it is a real time collage looping input from the device's built in mic. But yeah, I was alone. francesco wrote: > Hello Mr. Justin, > really nice. i like it. > > Only a very minimal note: > with hearphones i hear a little bit too noise (hi freq). > But could depend by my system. > (I wish to explain myself better). > > Thanks for sharing, > (I only hope You was alone at restaurant!-) > ciao, > francesco. > Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body "unsubscribe csound" |

Hello Mr. Justin, thanks, i was unaware about wabi-sabi concept (really interesting, something, more or less, like clinamen, i argue), and i have better understand Your work. And then thank. As a side, it was my system that had a problem (headphones/connections). It was not clipping, it was pure noise! but my limitations in english don't allow me to be clear. But, more important, i like Your track. And about the album, please keep me/us informed. ciao, francesco. |
