Thanks for listening and for the comments. Regarding the piece:
I created a percussion track in a MIDI sequencer, based on throws of
dice (Wurfelspiel). I edited the track, then recorded it as a WAV file.
I time-stretched that file with rubberband and used the stretched WAV in
AVSynthesis. The other instrumental parts are from a trio for flute,
horn, and bassoon, also originally a brief MIDI sequence and similarly
treated. I've been experimenting with rubberband and wanted to do
something with those tracks.
AVSynthesis's role in this piece is primarily as mixer and processor.
The same waveguide filter is applied to both tracks, but with different
envelope characteristics. Ditto for the reverb. The soundfile pan
controls and the filters are continuously modulated, an essential aspect
of the overall sound.
Btw, all the original sounds are from the 8mbgmsfx.sf2 soundfont, I
think it's from the disc Creative packaged with the SoundBlaster Live. I
was indeed writing for "acoustic instruments" of a sort. :)
Best,
dp
