[Csnd] q: csound in linux software repository

Subject	[Csnd] q: csound in linux software repository
	I'm a fairly recent Linux convert (running Linux Mint 16) and I'm back to dabbling with Csound. I recently noticed that the version in the software repository is only 5.17. I'm curious to know why the repository has such an old version and if/when it ever gets updated? I attempted to install the Debian_amd64 version of Csound6 from sourceforge but kept running into an error with a missing library (libcsound64.so.6.0) and gave up. Thanks! --- Kevin Krebs \| \|

	Hi, jpff: I did a search and nothing came up for libcsound64. I also looked through in the Debian_amd64 archive and didn't see it in there either. I would appreciate if you sent me a copy & I'll see if I can get things going after that. Victor: I attempted to do an install using git & the instructions for Debian/Ubuntu but with no success. The first step "sudo apt-get build-dep csound" results in an error "E: Unable to find a source package for csound" and it only gets worse from there.
