Hey hey, the handpan has received a few updates, based on some feedback. For Csounders the only importance are the predefined scales. The instrument now has definitions for all scales - if not all keys - listed on the Rav Drum website for both Rav Vast and the more traditional handpans. http://juliencoder.de/sound/handpan-2.0.zip Enjoy and best wishes, Jeanette -- * Website: http://juliencoder.de - for summer is a state of sound * Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMS4rfGrTwz8W7jhC1Jnv7g * Audiobombs: https://www.audiobombs.com/users/jeanette_c * GitHub: https://github.com/jeanette-c Can't make you love me I'm just a girl with a crush on you <3 (Britney Spears) Csound mailing list Csound@listserv.heanet.ie https://listserv.heanet.ie/cgi-bin/wa?A0=CSOUND Send bugs reports to https://github.com/csound/csound/issues Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here |

Hey Jeanette, this was so much fun to play with... thanks for sharing it! I'd been eyeballing that Rav celtic minor double ding... so it was great to get to play around in the scale with a really nice emulation of it's sound! On mac, I had to make a change or two. I'm pretty sure this was it tho: I changed: -+rtmidi=cmidi ; Mac OS (CoreMidi?) to read: -+rtmidi=coremidi ; Mac OS (CoreMidi?) And also changed: -M14 to read -M0 I'm not sure if those will work for everyone, or if it's related to my ancient and outdated OSX version. But figured I'd mention in case it helps anyone else. -tgrey On Wed, Nov 10, 2021 at 7:28 AM Jeanette C. <julien@mail.upb.de> wrote: Hey hey, |

I was introduced to the B Kurd and enjoyed that a lot! I heard that there's an interactive way to test instruments on Rav's website, though you can't record it and it's not accessible. So this was the best choice for me, short of stealing the money to buy one. :) ... > On mac, I had to make a change or two. Though not having any mac to speak of, I can't check myself. :) > to read: > -+rtmidi=coremidi ; Mac OS (CoreMidi?) > > And also changed: > -M14 > to read > -M0 That was expected. Though it's good to confirm that MIDI inputs really are just integral numbers. ... >> http://juliencoder.de/sound/handpan-2.0.zip ... Sending this one directly to you for a quick personal message... it's been quite a long time! I'm sorry if it felt like I "ghosted" you or anything like that. Sparing you the details, I'll just say that I've just been having a really difficult time dealing with a lot of things, and withdrew from pretty much everything and everyone except my partners. I even stopped participating on the cabbage forums and csound lists. But I'm slowly coming back out of my shell over the last month or two. And then right when I started feeling better and coming out, I caught covid. But I'm about back to where I was again at least, so that's progress I guess. Ironically I had already been intending to send you something to say hi. One of the things I had been getting started with during my sabbatical was modular synthesis. I'd been doing a lot of playing in Voltage Modular (I like that environment a little better than VCV rack, plus it's always worked as a vst plugin where that's a new and paid feature for VCV). But now I was recently gifted a Behringer K-2 (I *LOVE* those korg-ish filters!), and my first small eurorack case with a few modules to get started is in the mail. I vaguely remember you did some modular work too, in particular a Neutron sticks out in my memory (a semi-modular that's up next on my shopping list!). Knowing you both are into csound and (if I recall) modular, I was wondering if you interface with csound at all for any sort of control or modulation... if so what you use and how the experience has been? I was considering an expert sleepers es-8 or es-9... they seem to be highly regarded, but also highly priced. But then within a day or two of me intending to write, you send the handpan instrument out. Well guess what one of my other birthday gifts was (aside from the K-2)? A D-Minor Handpan (my favorite key)! I've had a lot of fun playing it even if I'm not that good. And my pan is pretty inexpensive, probably from china... so the tuning is a bit off on a few notes, but it's not too bad. Just enough to add a little character. And it's something for me to learn on and see if I'd want to spend more on a nicer instrument. But as soon as I got it I fell in love, and I've been eyeballing that Rav B Minor Celtic Double Ding ever since. But anyways, I'd keep writing but I *really* need to go to sleep. I'm up far too late, it's 10:30 (insomnia has been horrible too). -Kevin On Wed, Nov 10, 2021 at 7:28 AM Jeanette C. <julien@mail.upb.de> wrote: Hey hey, |

Thanks Dr. B.! I have done a little more work on it, including some adjustment to the model, correcting a panning mistake and introduced some randomness/chance based on MIDI controllers to increase the performance possibilities.
