Hi all, I will be performing at SEAMUS 2019 at Berklee in Boston on March 21-23. This is a piece for my Implication Organ system, the core which is realtime Csound running on a Raspberry Pi 3, with a MIDI keyboard and an OSC interface running on a tablet. The Pi output is further processed through a bunch of pedals. It will be my second time at SEAMUS -- the first time I presented a fixed media piece made entirely in Csound, but this will be my first live performance for this conference. I'll be playing in the session on Saturday at 2:30pm. Hoping to see Dr. B there! :-) It's possible that this will be the only Csound-based piece at the conference, or at least one of the very few in a landscape that tends to be dominated by Max/MSP. I hope not, but that was my experience at SEAMUS 2017. Is anyone else on this list participating? I am still tweaking the sounds, primarily on the effects side of things, but the composition will essentially be what's in the video. Thanks, Dave |

It's going to be awesome, Dave! I wish I were going to see/hear you, but didn't submit this year. I only have one piece that doesn't use csound, Windhorse for flute and live electronics. Listening right now to the "early" version - really beautiful sound and I enjoy the scale! Must study your implcation organ closer... Thanks also for the posts introducing it in the past!

Hi Aaron, I am actually using Csound almost exclusively on RPi in realtime contexts these days, both for generative pieces and for pieces that respond external input, including streams of OSC data. I'm using an RPi 3 with the Pisound sound board, and am very happy with the combination. You can see the source code for the Implication Organ here: https://github.com/DaveSeidel/music-src/tree/master/implication-organ. In this case, it uses OSC for control and a MIDI keyboard for notes. Here's another piece I do on the RPi, which is an unattended generative piece I've used for an installation (as well as a BC release). I have anther one (not yet published) for a theater piece that gets a constant incoming stream of OSC data and sonifies it. I have the Pisound board, too! I like it,got it last year, and have yet to do more with it. I ended up getting a bit frustrated that such a nice board was paired with the RPi, which I felt, b/c of its low power requirements, had mediocre processing speed benchmarks. It didn't take much to make xruns. When you say 'realtime Csound', do you mean another optimized branch, or just using standard Csound with '-odac'?
