Subject[Csnd] New composition: Memories and Reflection
Announcing a new real-time piece:
MEMORIES AND REFLECTIONS (2026) for Csound and 8 carillon samples
            In memoriam: John ffitch
Devoted purveyor and maintainer of Csound

MEMORIES AND REFLECTIONS is a Csound instrument designed for improvisation with bell sounds. It comprises a collection of 8 "prepared" carillon samples (from the same carillon), and is dedicated to the memory of John ffitch, an esteemed figure in the history and development of Csound.

In John's honor and respect for his home country, this work incorporates bells from the Loughborough War Memorial Carillon, located in Queen's Park, Loughborough, the United Kingdom. John may have experienced these bells, and/or visited the John Taylor & Co. bellfoundry (also in Loughborough) where the bells were produced. Though only 8 of them are incorporated by default into MEMORIES AND REFLECTIONS, the entire set has been adapted/edited for potential use in this setting.

As usual, complete documentation, performance materials and demo performance are found at the top of my list of compositions: https://arthunkins.com .

RIP, John, and many thanks for all your valuable work.

Note: both the beginning and end of the recording are very soft.

Thanks, Art. Elegant as always, and the collection of samples is great.

Hello Art,
sorry, it took so long to chime in (pun intended). This was a beautiful
piece. I like the more classic somber attitude in it and your almost
reverse processing of the carillon. Thank you for sharing!

Best wishes,

Jeanette
