Subject[Csnd] [Off-Topic] Obsessed with Carillons
Over the past year or more, I've been obsessed with carillons and other bell-like instruments. This has resulted in three major works (or rather, projects) for this class of instruments/performers; some versions (they are legion) have involved Csound, some not.

All are live performance, and Csound is involved as performance platform for actual (MIDI-controlled) carillons or for carillon samples, and as auto-performer for both. It also auto-records MIDI Csound performances that can drive MIDI-controlled carillons.

All this led to a side project, just finished: a setup that allows practice claviers/keyboards to play a variety of carillon sample sets (via MIDI - practice baton claviers duplicate the carillon playing mechanism). Performers need to practice in private! - but they also need to hear the sounds, or something similar, to those of an actual carillon.

Hence my project, entitled "A Carillon Sample Player for Practice Claviers"
Description and materials (including 5 sets of carillon free online samples) found at:
arthunkins.com/articlesother.htm

The setup consists of a used/repurposed  Windows (10/11) laptop with MIDI cable, plus free Szorzando software. (Total cost: approx. $110.)

Hello Art,
many thanks for sharing this. I am not into the software ecosystem around it,
but the sample sets alone are gold!

Thank you and best wishes,

Jeanette
