Subject[Csnd] New... manual. Belated announcement: CSLC. A live coding toolkit
Hello all,

I've been tinkering away with a collection of UDO's and instruments to aid with live coding. At the prodding of Dr. Richard B for some explanatory video's on what I can do, I've...  not really made many video's.

Instead I've written a manual:

You'll find lots of example code, and...  a couple of video's (more on the way).

CSLC really is just a Csound csd. To live code, you'll still need a csound editor with live coding capabilities. That said, you don't have to use cslc for just live coding. It provides UDO's and instruments for event generation, microtuning, and audio routing.

CSLC works in csound 6.18, and seems to work in csound 7 (although I've not tested it extensively).

Thanks for sharing this Thorin. The excerpts are great, as one would expect given your output over the years 😊 I come across some of your Cabbage instruments every so often, they always provide a nice surprise when looking through my folder of csd files!

Thorin,

Wow.  So nice.  And such beautiful music.  Nice Icon, too!  The manual and tutorials are awesome.  I am going to need another spring break to just dig and work my way through everything that is here and possible.  Wow.  I look forward to your submission of a paper, or better, a workshop, at ICSC, and to a performance or jam session there in October.  And, I would probably miss you using and showing that at one of Michael's monthly meetings, but I would want to make sure to be there for that one.  He should give you the entire session!

Dr B,

Watched Dan Stowell when he was at C4DM at QMUL several years back,
with a couple of his classmates doing some examples of Live Coding in
real time. Intense, impressive. Very good, very cool to watch.

Have to know the language cold, basically a walking Csound opcode book.

I forget if Dan was using Csound, FAUST, Cabbage or something else. They
did had The Csound Book on the shelf in their lab room back then.

"... pulling a hermit crab out of its shell", sounds like an apt description.

I'm still learning all this. Been to C4DM for AES conference and to visit with
their Josh Reiss, whom I've come to know. Like to attend there at some point.
In the meantime, studying this stuff on my own,... Josh's book, Julius Smith's

Hope to see again at an AES in LA, or NAMM in Anaheim. It's been a while.

Hello Csounders,

In June,

I plan to be at LAC - Maynooth, hoping to show/workshop "Dr.C" and possibly perform a new MetaVerse Work (possibly with integrated "Effortless" AI and new Sound Editing/Generating Features), and possibly with Aman Jagwani on Percussion, if he is there for the conference.

For sure, I will be at NIME in London (where I am showing some new Csound Brainwave things) with my student collaborator, Amy Chen.

Berklee has a big AI conference in early June, too - and I am showing many new AI and Csound things there.

Hoping to see you at one of these - and, at the ICSC in Sicily !!!!

their Josh Reiss, whom I've come to know. Like to attend there at some point.
In the meantime, studying this stuff on my own,... Josh's book, Julius Smith's
books, along with IEEE and AES journals, all keep me busy. So when I do get
tuition for university, 'I can hit the ground running', as the saying goes.

Hope to see again at an AES in LA, or NAMM in Anaheim. It's been a while.

Ahh, Dr B. You are pulling a hermit crab from its shell :).

Alright... thank you. Glad I've sparked some enthusiasm... stay tuned.

I would love to watch a video or two in which you talk as you live-code a piece for us.  I would love to watch Steven Yi do the same - sharing your thoughts as you are creating the work.

Thorin,

Wow.

SubjectRe: [Csnd] New... manual. Belated announcement: CSLC. A live coding toolkit
Live coding and talking at the same time is another whole skill that takes practice.

Here is a live coding video demonstration of CSLC, while I attempt live-talking too. It's entertaining on many levels.

I only touched a handful of features, so this may have to be a series.
