[Csnd] [OT] do you remember Netochka Nezvanova?

Subject[Csnd] [OT] do you remember Netochka Nezvanova?
Just wondering if any of you remembers the turn-of-the-century character Netochka Nezvanova
who used to scream in the internet and said that Cycling74 stole her(?) ideas in making Jitter.
There’s even a CMJ paper under the name.

Someone ought to re-cover the story of this, it would be an interesting read.

I clearly remember; I believe it was an artist collective rather than one single person. NN was preceded by =cw4t7abs aka antiorp (I got two copies of their 'a9ff' CD and an additional couple of mp3 published at the time, enough to be worth a mention in one of their websites ;)) and I know that Andrew Mackenzie/h3o was involved at least during the NN era.

Now IF this one is true the NZ artist Rebekah Wilson claims to be/have
been that person and there is a documentary on her here:

Yes, remember fondly the craze and crazyness and the immense productivity confusion and general "liveliness" of the debate back then. It seems to me even people relatively close to the phenomenon have an inclination towards shrouding it in mystery even now. Facts have been baked into legend and folklore it seems :-)

what i remember about her(?) is that, under a pseudonym (was it cw4t7abs?)
she used to pester this list with meaningless messages, most of them
apparently created with some random text generator (the RTG could have
been herself).

i'm under the impression that, apart from creating all this mystification
around her persona, she never did anything remarkable. but i might be
wrong. although i doubt it.

I remember her strange website. I also thought that Netochka Nezvanova was a sort of project team name.
nato.0+55 was really impressive, but I didn’t go there because MAX & nato was too expensive!

I remember antiorp and similar as they had a special line in my spam
filters and records. From 2000 to 2002 I kept having my work interrupted
by it and never saw the point other than wasting my time.

Still got some of the rate records of the junk.

i remember. i thought the command of language, and new computer/human
syntax was relatively interesting (and still think so). the music- well
i didn't hear a lot of it, but the stuff i might remember was not nearly
as clever as the language.

it's never as easy as it seams (sry)

Your invaluable archive of Csound messages from that time captured lots of messages from antiorp/m9ndfukc

And generally, it's so good this archive exists.

gunzip (gzip) version 1.6 on Debian works on for me.

I did notice my Android, Termux gunzip couldn't do it - with a messages of 'invalid magic' - but it is a peculiar variety of gunzip.
