Back on 2023-09-05, I was a guest on Steve Roach's "Ambient Lounge" here in Tucson. This is another work I excerpted from that live performance. It is built around Victor Lazzarini's excellent "streson" opcode; a kind of virtual string ensemble texture of sorts. Happy New Year, and I hope you enjoy it! https://soundcloud.com/filtercreed/song-for-a-solitary-moonscape |

Ambient, moody, rich,... very good. I'll be coming back to this one over and over again. ![]() -Partev =================================

Hi Aaron! Dec 31 2023, Aaron Krister Johnson has written: ... > https://soundcloud.com/filtercreed/song-for-a-solitary-moonscape ... This is a beautiful, little piece. Did you use Csound exclusively for this or did you mix and match? The basic timbre of the sound is very pleasant. Lovely reverb. Is that reverbsc? It flows very well. Thanks for sharing! Best wishes and a happy new year to you too, Jeanette -- * Website: http://juliencoder.de - for summer is a state of sound * Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMS4rfGrTwz8W7jhC1Jnv7g * Audiobombs: https://www.audiobombs.com/users/jeanette_c * GitHub: https://github.com/jeanette-c Make all the clouds disappear Put all your fears to rest <3 (Britney Spears) Csound mailing list Csound@listserv.heanet.ie https://listserv.heanet.ie/cgi-bin/wa?A0=CSOUND Send bugs reports to https://github.com/csound/csound/issues Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here |

Thanks for the listens and comments, all of you. The basic setup here is `fractalnoise` with live parameter control driving `streson`. The note choices were algorithmically driven, but interactively so, so human intervention was crucial to the overall arc and emotive effect. Various scale gamuts that corresponded to harmonic regions (you could think of them as scale-chords) were selectable via MIDI triggers. So the various harmonic region changes you hear are scale tables being switched out in real-time. Yes, the reverb is `reverbsc`, although these days I'm switching back and forth between using that and a custom reverb plugin I made myself with Faust. But here it's good ol' `reverbsc` I used a Novation LaunchControl as the instrument interface. I could control macro-aspects of texture, note length probabilities, note gamut range so I could focus on windowed subsets of the pitches, fractalnoise parameters and resonant parameters (for `streson`), delay parameters, and reverb parameters. I took the most salient 16 parameters and gave them knobs, essentially. On Mon, Jan 1, 2024 at 10:25 AM Jeanette C. <julien@mail.upb.de> wrote: Hi Aaron! |
