Hi all, As it is Bandcamp Friday, I have made my piece The Ophanim Cycles available on a pay-as-you-wish basis for the weekend. This from December 2020, and is made with Csound, modular synth, and various pedals. It is a long piece, a bit over 3 hours, in sections. Please feel free to check it out. I encourage you to download it for free, if you're interested. - Dave --- http://mysterybear.net https://mstdn.social/@DaveSeidel (@DaveSeidel@mstdn.social) Involution on XI Records: https://mysterybear.bandcamp.com/album/involution |

I remember hearing this I think from 2020. I don't I ever got through the whole thing, but I plan to digest in chunks. Listening to track 1 now. I am struck by the sometime dark beauty of the various hexany subset JI sonorities. They have a kind of "consonant dissonance" and "floaty" quality. And often, the images it conjures for me are something like a post-apocalypse civilization. I have an unreleased track I call "City of Embers" that intersects sonically with this. What is the base oscillator type you use here? Great stuff, I shared with the tuning-discuss mailing list for untwelve.org, too. -AKJ On Wed, Aug 9, 2023, 09:43 Dave Seidel <dave.seidel@gmail.com> wrote:

Whoops, I forgot to answer this! Sorry, Aaron. The base oscillator (Csound) is scanu/scanx. Then the Csound output gets processed by a bunch of modular synth stuff and pedals, finally going throuhg three sound-on-sound loopers in series. The Csound code itself is monophonic. You can see all the code, as well as patch diagrams for the entire system, here: https://github.com/DaveSeidel/music-src/tree/master/ophanim-cycles - Dave On Sat, Aug 12, 2023 at 12:14 PM Aaron Krister Johnson <akjmicro@gmail.com> wrote:
