yes and this nasty error is related to a change in mac os which set the 
internal mic to mono rather than stereo.  this caused a problem in 
portaudio.

if the new version does not help, nor the nchnls_i = 1:
- set real time input to none.
- choose another RT audio module (coreaudio should be fine, jackosx is 
best in my opinion).
