[Csnd] Trying to get Csound to run on Windows Vista

Subject[Csnd] Trying to get Csound to run on Windows Vista
yup! I bought my own computer with my own money. A Windows Vista tower with a
monitor, keyboard, and mouse... all that for 50$.

I tried running the latest or recommended... whatever, version of Csound and
it won't run.. like it needs a dll file or something.

What is the greatest version of Csound can Windows Vista handle?
it's like.. service pack 2 as well whatever that means.
It's a 64-bit operating system.

I don't need a frontend but they do come in handy sometimes. Ultimately, I
just want to run it from the ms-DOS prompt or shell... whatever.

I want to use orc and sco files as opposed to csd and I want to do things
the old fashioned way for a little while.

I would turn it into a Linux machine but I would be sure to get a 64
bit version of Linux that is "lighweight" and designed to run without
a lot of memory. Can't go too far wrong with one of these:
