SND resources contain the actual sound data in resource as
well, am i right?

try again: anybody know if there is a standardized header (AIFF-C
 format chunk?) for B-format (ambisonics) sound files?

Digidesign, DSP Designer and MacMix (all pretty much the same format).
And, of course, SND resource files.
