The deadline for entries in the ASCAP/SEAMUS Student Commission Competition has been extended to October 1, 1998. First prize is a commission of $1250 for a new work to be premiered at the SEAMUS 2000 conference at the University of North Texas, in Denton, TX. Finalists will have their work presented at the SEAMUS 99 conference at San Jose State University, in San Jose, CA. To enter the competition, you must be either (a) a SEAMUS student member, (b) a US citizen or legal resident currently enrolled in a high school, university or college program. Proof of student status is required. You may submit only one electroacoustic work for consideration. Tapes and scores (if necessary) must not contain the name of the entrant. Materials will only be returned if accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope. Submissions must include an official submission form, available from the SEAMUS web site, http://comp.music.lsu.edu/seamus/. The deadline has been extended to October 1, 1998.
