thank you everybody for the encouragement and the kind words.

i'm honoured that montevideo was chosen to host the icsc2017, and i'll  
be happy to make my best efforts to organize, within the limits of our  
modest resources, the best conference possible, as this great  
community deserves.

i know that for many of you coming to montevideo is a long (or *very*  
long...) trip, but i sincerely hope as many of you as possible can  
make it. needles to say, i'm at your disposal for sending official  
invitation letters, written in the most emphatic and convincing terms  
i can think of, if that helps you get financial aid for the trip.
