Here are my two cents, which I usually bring in whenever a mailing list
is to be supplemented by a web based forum (commercial service):

A mailing list archive is probably the most extensive collection of
knowledge for a user community. I think the information should be
collected at one single point. People learning csound should be capable
of learning how to subscribe and post to mailing lists. I wouldn't
bother reading the mailing list AND a web based forum at the same time,
and we shouldn't expect novices to be doing that neither to get access
to information and answers.
