Forgot to mention I tried that, doesn't work. It also says that putting an invalid number will cause a list to be printed, which it does with PortMidi but not alsa. I tried aconnect -i and aconnect -o (can never remember which I want) and tried the numbers they listed after hw:, as in hw:129,1 for Pd. Tried adding and subtracting a few from each of the numbers, too, because sometimes one starts counting at 0 and the other starts at 1. Nothing but the same error message I posted. -Chuckk On 8/18/07, Jonathan Murphy wrote: > > Hi Chuckk, > > To use the alsa sequencer you need to name the device that you want to > use, something like this: > > -M hw:1,0 > > There is a detailed explanation in the manual, in the realtime usage > section, which is divided by platform. > > j. > > --- Chuckk Hubbard wrote: > > > $ csound -+rtaudio=jack -+rtmidi=alsa -odac:alsa_pcm:playback_ -M 0 > > midiin.csd > > > > Gives me: > > > > rtmidi: ALSA module enabled > > rtaudio: JACK module enabled > > ...... > > Csound version 5.06 beta (float samples) Aug 12 2007 > > midi channel 1 using instr 1 > > midi channel 2 using instr 1 > > .... > > midi channel 14 using instr 1 > > midi channel 15 using instr 1 > > midi channel 16 using instr 1 > > 0dBFS level = 32768.0 > > chnl 1 using instr 1 > > ALSA lib rawmidi.c:282:(snd_rawmidi_open_noupdate) Unknown RawMidi 0 > > ALSA: error opening MIDI input device > > *** error opening MIDI in device: -1 (Unknown MIDI error) > > inactive allocs returned to freespace > > end of score. overall amps: 0.0 0.0 > > overall samples out of range: 0 0 > > 1 errors in performance > > ---------------------------------------------------- > > > > I have snd-seq-midi loaded.
