There is no Python scripting, although I do not use that frequently, which
may explain the lack of it.

Probably not, especially if doing so does not introduce a requirement for
Python. Any other improvements are also welcome. While I am not sure about
VST plugins, it may be an interesting idea to have a version of Csound
that can be used as an LADSPA or DSSI pluigin.
