Since I used the most current version of liblo, I realized that something else must have been going on. It turns out that I forgot to use --prefix=/usr and I ended up with two different versions, one in /usr/lib and another in /usr/local/lib. Having used non-Linux flavors of UN*X for many years, I still forget at times that the Linux way of doing things is to, oddly, just stuff everything into /usr rather than /usr/local. Never understood why things are typically done that way in Linuxland, when using /usr/local for everything that isn't part of the basic system is very useful. -- R. D.
