Why would a simple text editor execute .csd files? A simple editor
such as cseditor can be encapsulated into a launcher program but to
execute .csd files implicitly is beyond the scope of a text editing
program.

It can of course not read .py files. Python is a completely separate
language from Csound and should remain as such.
