It should be possible to write an opcode to look at the _next_ score  
event.  Need to think about that, and discuss with others.  Could be  
next event for a given instrument or next.  Needs thought.

I understand your problem.  I am scheduled to rewrite the score  
parsing code so will see if I can incorporate this, but I can see  
difficulties
