If I kind of think of this mailing list that way. I fear it's sometimes more daunting to have too many good sources of info available. I personally have at least a footing for finding the info I need in most cases, so it doesn't matter much to me, but I tend to agree that the current manual process is the way to go. More casual, personal, and maybe even more useful ideas crop up on the mailing list, which is archived, and rigorous no-nonsense stuff can be found in the manual. The Pure Data community, for a while, was putting up new Wikis and websites and forums every couple of weeks, and most fell into disuse, because people generally want to know one or two places to go in the beginning. If anything I feel like there's a shortage of mid-level tutorials. I've read maybe a dozen tutorials on how to make a simple orchestra, to use some basic sampling, etc. I'd rather learn more details about scanned synthesis, granular, PVS opcodes, filtering, spatial processing, more advanced stuff. So if you feel it, go with it, but I'd be prepared for it not to catch on right away. -Chuckk -- http://www.badmuthahubbard.com
