I haven't heard from him in a while, but I'vr put a shout-out to him on the Haiku forum. If he doesn't pick up, maybe I or somebody can take a look. Unfortunately I remeber it had some annoying bugs -- the fault of the Qt port itself, I think, not CsoundQT. > > Out of curiosity: why do you like to use Haiku? Oh, so many reasons... (:-)) Mostly I guess is that, of all the OSs I've used, Haiku is the most congenial. I refuse to use Windows, and I've never had a Mac. Linux is good for things that Haiku won't do (Haiku browsers all seem to fall down on something, for istance, and the GIMP and Audacity are sometimes the only tools for the job) but I find its UI much clunkier than Haiku. There are a lot of little features that work for me. I like to leave what I'm working on -- or have been working on -- ready on the Desktop. In Haiku, when you shut down and reboiot, all the folders that were open before appear in their original positions. I have 9 Workspaces, which appear in a small window. in the bottom corner, and miniatures of all open windows are shown there. Some Workspaces remain unchanged for months! Then there is MIDI. The MID( facilties in Haiku are superior to any other. MIDI endpoints are named, and it's trivial for any program to create a 'Producer' or 'Consumer' and find and connect to another app's endpoint. In particular, I long ago wrote the 'MusicWeqver' -- something like a Max for MIDI. It's actually more general than that,, able to pass around data of any kind, tagge4d with its nature. As well as MIDI, it has modules to handle text and arbitrary (stdio) streams. All this is matched by the underlying mechanisms of Haiku. It could possibly be ported to another OS, but it would be a major task. Anyway, it satisfies all my musical needs very well. (Though I must point out I'm not much of a muasician!) Typically I have MusicWeaver configurations that take my simple input from a couple of keyboards (digipiano and Axiom) and route it to multple voices in fluidsynth and Csound. Fills things out nicely! Audio in Haiku still could do with some work. Latency is fine -- a lot better than standard Linux on the same laptop -- but sample rate interpolation for instance is only linear, so I have to ensure that Csound is running at the system rate (48000 for me) or I can get nasty artefacts Hope that gives you some idea! -- Pete -- . > Tarmo. > > > P, 7. aprill 2019 11:53 Victor Lazzarini kirjutas: > > > Well done, thanks for this! > > > > Victor Lazzarini > > Dean of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Philosophy > > Maynooth University > > Ireland > > > > > On 7 Apr 2019, at 01:42, Pete Goodeve wrote: > > > > > > ...No relation to Iain McCurdy's Haiku!
