IDM04 SuperCollider 3 summer school in London, July 5-9th
Tutors Fredrik Olofsson and Nick Collins
This five day course introduces the participant to the SuperCollider
Server (SC3) language and application on Mac OS X. The workshop will be
practical, with an emphasis on getting individual projects underway.
Material will cover the SuperCollider language, the Server
implementation, and specific features like sound synthesis and
processing, scheduling, soundfile manipulation including bbcut,
interaction via custom built GUIs, and live coding techniques for
performance.
A number of templates for student work will be provided to help
quickstart projects, and it is hoped there will be a lively interaction
amongst the participants in sharing performance ideas and patches.
The event will take place at the University of Westminster Harrow
Campus near Northwick Park underground station. There are lab
computers, though participants usually bring their own laptops if they
have them. Note that we're happy to see people using the Linux SC3 if
they have it on their computer, OS X not essential, but one thing we
can't promise any ability at is to install an SC3 Linux distro for you.
The course officially runs from 11am to 5pm, with a mixture of
workshops and individual project time. The evenings, however, tend to
involve informal activities around London like sightseeing, eating,
drinking and music making...
£140 full cost, £100 concessions, (student, OAP)
Registration can be dealt with via Helen Cohen, details below. Limited
