| I've been away from making music for a while and want to get back into it
(equipped with a couple years of studying math and computer science.) I used
to play with Csound a little.
First question:
Is there any other good languages for DSP/Synthesis besides Csound worth
learning (markup or other)? Or should I just focus on Csound?
Second:
I've been toying with the idea of networking a few old linux boxes
together and getting some cheap controllers for them. Then programming a
synth on each one and running them real time outputting audio fromm each one
to an analogue mixer and controlling them via a sequencing program on
another 'master' computer (basically treating each linux box as a
stand-alone synth). I would only run one synth on each box because when I
say 'old' I mean p3. (a p3 should be able to handle atleast one intsrument
real time right?).
Is this practical? Or would there be better ways to do this (I think the
idea of having a bunch of linux boxes as synths is alluring to my computer
geek side)
