Greetings: When I run Cs5 I can hear a thin high F at a very low volume keening away in the background. This doesn't occur in Varga Csound 4.24.1. I'll try building and testing the GBS (?) version later today too. Best, dp PS: Is there a more official manner of posting bug reports for Cs5 ? ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. Hi Istvan: Rtaudio only, there's no problem with file output. Btw, the problem *does* occur with your 4.24.1, it's just producing the noise at a slightly lower level. And the choice of plughw:N doesn't make a difference... Btw, the problem occurs with -+rtaudio=portaudio too, except the pitch is an octave (2?) lower. And audio latency with the portaudio option is really bad... This doesn't occur in Varga Csound 4.24.1. 44100/128 is 344.53, while 349.23Hz is the frequency of an F. The noise is caused by some buffering artefact, and is lower pitched with PortAudio because that uses larger buffers. What -b and -B settings did you use ? ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. What happens with these buffer settings (especially when --sched is enabled) ? -b 64 -b 512 -b 64 -b 1024 -b 128 -b 512 -b 128 -b 1024 -b 256 -b 2048 ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. Btw, command options are as follows: su -c 'csound -+rtaudio=alsa --expression-opt --sched -o devaudio -d -m0 -b256 -B2048 -M/dev/snd/midiC0D0 midi-in.csd' Note also that --sched does *not* work with -o dac. It produces an error message telling me it requires -o dac or -o devaudio. Also no idea about the noise, but I did not test with MIDI input yet. By the way, there is a new experimental sensevents() in the CVS that may fix the missing notes (or possibly introduce other errors). ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. It does work, but it requires: -o dac and not: -odac ( I think, either that or it's the other way around, but it was a whitespace problem. ) ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. Thanks Istvan. Hey, on one of your older versions I think you had a feature, (I think it was for midi cards?) whereby you could somehow get csound to display all the possible device names. Correct? If I'm not mis-remembering, I found that extremely useful. Especially when switching from one *nix to another or from windows to linux etc. Iain Istvan Varga wrote: > iainduncan@telus.net wrote: > >> This is a bug I reported earlier, but you might have missed.
