I just now finished rebuilding Csound for the Windows installers with MSVC 2008 Express Edition, after getting it to build with MSVC 2005. The 2008 build completed the very first time and runs slightly faster than either MSVC 2005 or MinGW 3.4.2. I would be curious to compare with MinGW 4.1, which is in a pre-release status, if I could get the damned tools to work with SCons.

So, assuming I can get all the parts working and so far there is no reason to think they won't, this looks like a positive go for 5.08. I will be working on the installer and perhaps debugging some things tomorrow.

In order not to mess up the other packages, or have to relabel sources I have changed, I propose labeling the current state of things csound5_08_1 and have that be the release label for the Windows installers.
