your scons tools do not seem to include Java. This is something
to do with your scons config, perhaps it can't find the path to those
tools?

Hmm, I just tried rebuilding 5.08 with the same options, got the same 
message. I must have screwed up something in my Java configuration. :(

There are no Java flags for Linux in custom.py.

SWIG is version 1.3.31.

Btw, I'm building from the newly released source tarball, not from CVS. 
Should I build from CVS instead ?
