Thanks for the explanation. If I don't have a clear picture of how you are
working, it is all too easy for me to get upset for the wrong reasons.

That said, unless you CAN build with the sources in CVS, I am still
reluctant to contribute because anything I do in the meantime could conflict
with what you are building now when you update it. Currently, I can't build
the utilities from CVS sources either with SCons or with make. And the
Makefile.in files in CVS don't work with the CVS sources.

When was the last time you moved your source tree, did a fresh checkout from
CVS, and tried to build from that?
